Davenport — The Diocese of Davenport Immigration Program is hosting an informational presentation on the renewal of Deferred Action for Children Arrivals (DACA) June 21 at 9 a.m. at the St. Vincent Center. Davenport — High school students who are participating in high school mock trial competition, considering a career in law, or wanting to improve their competitive, critical thinking and debate skills, are invited to the St. Ambrose University Mock Trial summer program. The one-day program will take place Aug. 5, from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Coaching staff, team members and alumni of the St. Ambrose Mock Trial Team will present the various parts of a mock trial case utilizing actual case materials. Davenport — Eagles’ Wings is hosting a DVD series, “Unbound” by Neal Lozano. The series will focus on habitual sinning and how to break free. An introduction morning will take place July 19 from 9:30- 11:30 a.m. Cost is $10. To register call (563) 324-7263.
LITURGY/PRAYER
Bettendorf — Deacon John Weber is offering a Scripture class on the Gospel of St. Mark. Classes are held at Our Lady of Lourdes in Bettendorf in the parish center on Saturday mornings from 9-10:30 a.m. Classes began May 24.
Davenport — Eagles’ Wings will host SWAP (Soaking with a Purpose) prayer meeting June 27 at 7 p.m. The chapel will be open at 6:30 p.m. for quiet prayer.
Davenport — The Sisters of Humility invite the general public to pray with them at 11:40 a.m. Wednesdays during a special Mass for peace. It will be celebrated in the Magnificat Chapel at the Humility of Mary Center, 820 W. Central Park Ave.
Davenport — A Young Adult Holy Hour is held the fourth Thursday of each month at Sacred Heart Cathedral. The next Holy Hour will occur June 26 at 7:30 p.m.
Moline, Ill — The Secular Discalced Car­melite Community of St. Joseph and the Prophet Elijah is hosting a study of prayer in the tradition of St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross the second Sunday of every month at 1 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. Grand Mound — Ss. Philip & James Church will begin hosting monthy Healing Masses. The next Healing Mass is June 29 at 5 p.m. Guests can also participate in eucharistic adoration from 3-4 p.m., worship music from 4:30-5 p.m., and a potluck at 6:30 p.m. Future Healing Masses will take place the last Sunday of the month. RETREATS
Wheatland — Our Lady of the Prairie is hosting a Centering Prayer Retreat July 27 – Aug. 1. This six-day retreat with Sister Kathryn Ann Kobelinski, SSND, will give attendees an opportunity to pray in community, view videos, and experience Lectio Divina in an atmosphere of silence and solitude. SOCIALS
Bettendorf — Our Lady of Lourdes Church is hosting a farewell weekend and reception for Father Tim Sheedy. Light refreshments will be available after Masses, and a potluck will take place from noon-3 p.m. June 29.
Davenport — Sacred Heart Cathedral is hosting a cookout June 21 at 5 p.m. Hamburgers, brats, hotdogs, etc. and the fixings will be available. Recommended donation is $8/person. Proceeds to benefit diocesan hall.
Knoxville — St. Anthony Church will be hosting an open house for Father Steve Ebel’s retirement on June 29, 2-4 p.m. in the parish hall.
Oxford — A benefit for Larry Eister will take place June 28 at St. Mary’s Hall. Dinner will be served from 5-7 p.m., with a silent auction, 50/50 tickets, and a post-dinner live auction. Eister had a heart attack and a bad fall down the steps that led to a brain injury on Dec. 31, 2013. He has been in the hospital and rehab since. Proceeds will benefit his medical costs.
