EDUCATION
Bettendorf — Women’s Choice Center is hosting its next Mug & Muffin informational meeting on Sept. 10 from 10 a.m. to noon. Call Julia at the Center at (563) 332-0475 to reserve a spot.
LITURGY/PRAYER
Columbus Junction — A bilingual Healing Mass will take place at St. Joseph Church Sept. 5. Confessions will be heard 6 to 6:45 p.m., Mass at 7 p.m., and eucharistic adoration and prayers for healing following Mass.
Davenport — The Sisters of Humility invite the general public to pray with them at 11:40 a.m. Wednesdays during a special Mass for peace. It will be celebrated in the Magnificat Chapel at the Humility of Mary Center, 820 W. Central Park Ave.
Davenport — Eagles’ Wings will host SWAP (Soaking with a Purpose) prayer meetings Sept. 12 and 26 at 7 p.m. The chapel will be open at 6:30 p.m. for quiet prayer.
MEETINGS
Iowa City — Young Adult Catholics (Y.A.C) meets the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month from 7:30-9 p.m. at St. Patrick Church in the Zaga Room downstairs.
Rock Island, Ill. — The Saint John XXIII fraternity of the Secular Franciscans meets at 2 p.m. the first Sunday of each month at Trinity Hospital, 2701 17th St. For more information, call Kent Ferris in Muscatine at (563) 299-6107.
RETREATS
Davenport — The annual St. Alphonsus retreat will take place Sept. 15 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church. The theme is “A God of Renewal and Passion for His Church.” The cost is $10, and includes a light lunch and beverages. Iowa City — St. Patrick Parish is hosting a Spiritual Retreat on Sept. 6th, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Topics will be “Mary, Model of Faith,” “The Vocation to Holiness,” and “The Christian Meaning of Suffering.” The retreat begins with Mass at 8:30 a.m.. Clinton — Emily Brabham, candidate with the Sisters of St. Francis and the director of youth ministry at St. Francis Xavier Parish in La Grange, Ill., will make a presentation at The Canticle Aug. 28 at 6:30 p.m. She will focus on the different forms of povery she encountered while on a mission immersion trip to Nairobi, Kenya.

Mechanicsville — St. Mary’s Annual Ice Cream Social will take place Sept. 7 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at St. Mary Church Hall. Maid-rites, hot dogs, sides and ice cream will be served. Cost for adults is $7, children $5 and children under 3 eat free. Guests can participate in a country store with craft items and a quilt raffle.
Riverside — St. Mary Parish is hosting its annual Labor Day celebration Sept. 1. Food will be served 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; options include pork chop dinner for $11 advance or $12 at door; fried chicken dinner $10 advance or $11 at door; hot dog kid’s meal $5 advance or $6 at door, and kids under 5 eat free hot dog meal. Festivities include crafts, farmer’s market, bingo, kids’ games including an obstacle course and 1 p.m. tractor pull, auction, and raffle. Grand prize for raffle is $1,500.
Solon — St. Mary Parish is hosting its Harvest Festival Sept. 28 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Pork and chicken dinners to be served. Cost is $10 for adults and $6 for children 6-12. Children and family activities, a country store and silent auction will be offered. $5 raffle tickets for a chance to win a Kinnick Stadium Suite for the Hawkeye’s Nov. 1 football game.
