Davenport — St. Ambrose University will hold its 2014 Winter Commencement ceremony at 11 a.m. Dec. 13 at the River Center. Anyone needing special accommodations should contact the Student Disabilities Services office at (563) 333-6275.
LITURGY/PRAYER
Burlington – The CAFÉ (Catholic Adult Fellowship Evening) will be open in the Notre Dame cafeteria from 6:45-8 p.m. Dec. 17. Father Hai Dinh will speak on the Gift of Faith Series.
Clinton — On Dec. 11 at 6 p.m., Sisters of St. Francis are hosting a prayer vigil of mourning and remembrance of those who have died as a result of gun violence. The vigil will take place at The Canticle.
Clinton — The Sisters of St. Francis invite the public to join them at Vespers – Evening Prayer on each of the Sundays of Advent at 6 p.m. in the The Canticle. Vespers, the evening prayer of the Church, include Scrip­ture readings, hymns, psalms, reflections and prayer.
Clinton — Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Parish is hosting a Blue Christmas worship service Dec.15 at 7 p.m. at the church. The service is dedicated to those who experience feelings of hurt, grief and loss around Christmas time. Refreshments to follow.
Davenport — Eagles Wings is hosting SWAP (Soaking with a Purpose) prayer meeting Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. Also, those who completed the Unbound classes this fall are invited to a leadership training day Dec. 13 at 9:30 a.m.
Davenport — St. Paul the Apostle Parish is hosting a holiday healing prayer service Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m. This service is a time to acknowledge loss and sadness. It will be a quiet, meditative worship service of prayer, Scripture, and music that acknowledges that God’s presence is for those who mourn and those who struggle.
Davenport — Sacred Heart Cathedral is hosting the following weekly holy hours: prayers for our country Sundays from 8 to 9 p.m.; hour of divine mercy Sundays from 3 to 4 p.m.; praying for priests, seminarians and the Davenport Diocese Thursdays at 8:45 a.m.
Davenport — St. Paul the Apostle Parish is hosting the following: Project Rachel adoration hours the third Thursday of each month from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.; Circle of Love charismatic prayer group Thursdays at 7 p.m.
Iowa City — St. Thomas More Parish’s Stephen Ministry and Consultation of Religious Communities is hosting a Blue Christmas service dedicated to those whose life challenges and struggles are heightened during the holiday season. It will take place in Mercy Medical Center’s McAuley Room Dec. 21 at 6 p.m.
Keokuk — All Saints Parish is hosting a Dec. 17 rosary at 7 p.m.
Retreats
Rock Island, Ill. — A young adult mini-retreat will take place Dec. 13 at Benet House Retreat Center from 10 a.m. to noon. The grounds will be open for reflection and fellowship following the retreat. For questions and registration, contact Sister Bobbi Bussan at rbussan@
