To the Editor:
Many USDA-approved kennels keep their dogs in near total darkness. Dog-breeding inspection legislation is being looked at to protect dogs in puppy mills (this will not affect hobby breeders). Thousands of dogs live in small areas with only wired bottom cages. They live in outdoor elements, rain, wind, cold (snow) and heat. Many have no shelter from the elements. Iowa can do better than that. You get the idea. Visit: www.iafriends.org to receive more information and sign up to help the dogs!
