Former diocesan teacher dies

DUBUQUE — Sister Mary Pat Haley, BVM (St. Thomas), died May 30 at Caritas Center. She was 81. Sr. Haley was born in Des Moines in 1933 to Edward and Lucille (Muelhaupt) Haley. She entered the BVM congregation in 1952 and professed first vows in 1955.

In the Diocese of Davenport, she taught at Regina Coeli High School in Iowa City. Additionally, she was an elementary and secondary school teacher, college professor and administrator in Cicero, Illinois, and Chicago. She also taught at a college in Los Gatos, California.

Sr. Haley was interred at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Dubuque. Memorials may be given to the Sisters of Charity, BVM Support Fund in Dubuque.
