Davenport — A Black and White Gala to support pro-life activities will take place Aug. 14 at St. Ambrose University. Davenport — St. Mary Parish is hosting a Hispanic food sale fundraiser Aug. 16 from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. behind the church. Steak tacos, enchiladas, Mexican corn on the cob, tortas and gorditas are among the food items which will be for sale.
Grinnell — St. Mary Parish is hosting a program titled “The Common Good and Climate Change” July 25 at 1 p.m. at the Drake Library in Grinnell. The aim of the program is to create a better understanding of our responsibility to care for the natural environment and to protect the most vulnerable among us. The 60 minute presentation is composed of two guest speakers: Father Bud Grant, an environmental theologian and professor at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, and John Clayton, a local native life enthusiast who is trained on climate reality through Al Gore’s foundation. The event is free and open to the public.
Goose Lake — Assumption & St. Patrick Parish in Charlotte is hosting a beef and pork dinner with all the trimmings, including beverage and dessert on Aug. 9 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event will be held at the Millennium Ballroom in Goose Lake. Carry-outs are available. Cost is $10 for adults, $5.50 for children ages 4-12 years and free for children under 4 years old. Tickets available at the door the day of the event. There will also be a gift basket silent auction, children’s games, bingo and a country store.
Iowa City — Young Adult Catholics (Y.A.C.) meets the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month from 7:30-9 p.m. at St. Patrick Church in the Zaga Room downstairs.
