Iowa City — A conference commemorating the 70th anniversary of the dropping of atomic bombs that devastated Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, will be held Aug. 9 at the Ashton House, 820 Park St., Iowa City. The event begins at 9:30 a.m. Afterwards, from 4-6 p.m., a “Bike Around the Bomb” ride will help participants visualize the physical space annihilated by the bomb.
