Bettendorf — Kick off prayer for 40 Days for Life campaign will be Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. on the sidewalk outside of Planned Parenthood. Katherine Sabin will give a short talk. Prayer will follow. Sign up online to commit to an hour of prayer each week during the 40 Days for Life Campaign at bettendorf.
Bettendorf — St. John Vianney Parish is offering a GriefShare Ministry Sundays from 2-4 p.m. in the Health Ministry area in the lower level of the church. Davenport — St. Paul the Apostle Parish is hosting a grief ministry for those enduring any type of hurt. The group meets on Thursdays at 6 p.m. in McEleney Hall. Sessions began Sept. 10 and run for 10 weeks. The first four weeks are open, after that the group will become closed to new people until a new 10 week session begins. Davenport — A Healing Mass will take place Sept. 18 at Sacred Heart Cathed­ral. Praise music and confession at 6:30 p.m., Mass at 7 p.m.

Iowa City — Steve Markel, founder of Families of Character, will be speaking at St. Patrick Church in Iowa City on Oct 8. at 7 p.m. This is a change from the previously scheduled date. More details about this event will be published in a future issue of The Catholic Messenger.
Bettendorf — Our Lady of Lourdes Parish is hosting Oktoberfest Sept. 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the parish. Blue Grass — St. Andrew Parish is hosting a Laudato Si presentation and question and answer session Oct. 4 from 2-4 p.m. The event, held on the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, will show practical ways to implement the teachings of the encyclical. It is not necessary to have read the document before the presentation. Light re­fresh­ments will be served.
Davenport — Congregation of the Humility of Mary is continuing its Laudato Si study series Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. at the motherhouse.
Davenport — Humility of Mary Housing, Inc. is hosting a New Orleans Jazz Brunch, featuring the music of the Margaret Murphy-Webb Quartet, Sept. 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Crow Valley Golf Club. Auction begins at 1 p.m. Festivities include kids’ games, a caramel apple booth, silent auction, carriage rides, bingo and a raffle.
Houghton — St. John Harvest Fest will take place Sept. 27 at Knights of Columbus Hall. A roast beef dinner will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; carry-outs available. Auction begins at 11:30 a.m. Bake sale and crafts located on the south side of the KoC Hall.
Iowa City — St. Wenceslaus Parish is hosting its Fall Dinner Oct. 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Menu will include turkey and all the trimmings plus kolaches. Carry-out available until 5 p.m. Dinner tickets are $10 for adults, $4 for children ages 4-10 and free for children under 4 years old. Lone Tree — St. Mary’s fall auction and luncheon will take place Sept. 27 at the Lone Tree American Legion. Silent auction begins at 11 a.m. and regular auction at 1 p.m. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. until auction is finished. Soups, sandwiches, homemade desserts and more.
Lovilia — St. Peter’s fall dinner and auction will take place Oct. 11. Mass begins at 10:30 a.m. A roast beef, ham and beef and noodle dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Adults eat for $10, children ages 4 through 12 eat for $5, and children 3 and under eat free. Live auction starts at 1 p.m. Festivities also include a country market and raffle. Carry-outs available for pickup only. Maid rites and hot dog meals will be served for $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 4-10 and free for ages 3 and under. Craft items, quilts, baked goods, vegetables and more will be available from the country store.
Melrose — St. Patrick Parish is hosting its annual fall festival Sept. 27. Father Patrick Lumsden and Bishop Martin Amos will celebrate Mass at 10 a.m. Ham and roast beef lunch follows from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Auction begins at 1 p.m. Festivities include country story, raffle and kids games.
Oxford Junction — Sacred Heart Parish is hosting a fall festival Sept 20. A polka Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. A deep-fried chicken dinner with kolaches, sides and dessert will be served from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Legionnaire Ballroom at Wapsi Park. Cost is $11 for adults, $5 for children ages 5 to 10. Children ages 4 and under eat free. The event will also include a raffle, bake sale, silent auction, games and more.
Victor — St. Bridget Parish is hosting a chicken and ham family-style supper Sept. 20 from 3-6 p.m. in the church basement. Festivities include a country store, bake sale, quilt raffle and silent auction.
Wilton — St. Mary’s Fall Dinner will take place Oct. 4 from noon to 3 p.m. at the parish. Ham and turkey dinner is $10 for adults, $5 for children 5-10 years old, children 4 years old and younger eat free. Country store and crafts, grab bags and home-made treats are among the festivities.
