Sr. Neubauer dies at age 90

Sister Mary Modesta Neubauer, CHM, 90, died Oct. 4 at Bishop Drumm Retirement Center in Johnston.
Rosalia Laura Neubauer was born May 30, 1925, to Joseph and Susan Gondringer Neubauer in Portsmouth, Iowa. She entered the Congregation of the Humility of Mary in 1945, professing vows in 1947.

Sr. Neubauer was certified to work in child care and also gained certification as a nursing assistant. Her missions included the Christ Child Home in Des Moines and St. Vincent Home in Davenport where she cared for children. She was a nurse aide at Mercy Hospital in Davenport for 13 years and also at Humility of Mary Center in Davenport for more than a decade. In 1995 she retired to the Humility of Mary Center and in 2010 moved to Bishop Drumm Retirement Center where she resided until her death.

Her funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Oct. 8 at Humility of Mary Center. Burial follows in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Davenport.

Memorials may be made to the Congregation of the Humility of Mary.
