IOWA CITY — The Faith Formation Office of the Diocese of Davenport is hosting a workshop, Engaging a New Generation: Forming Youth for Missionary Discipleship, Oct. 20 at St. Patrick Parish in Iowa City.
The workshop will provide a language for the seismic changes ministers often feel in young people, but may have difficulty articulating or responding to pastorally. The workshop will dive into the distinctive characteristics of today’s teens and young adults. Participants will explore how to do third generation youth ministry and catechesis with postmodern, digital, millennial/homeland generation teens. Missionary discipleship will be discussed, as will practical evangelistic, catechetical and pastoral implications of ministering to and with 21st century teens.
The presenter is Frank Mercandante, founder and executive director of Cultivation Ministries.
The event begins at 9 a.m. and will conclude around 3 p.m. Cost is $30 and includes materials and lunch. To register go to www.davenportdiocese.org/faithform/Engaging.htm
