GriefShare’s Surviving the Holidays seminar can help participants discover how to deal with emotions, what to do about traditions, learn helpful tips for surviving social events and finding hope for the future. Later in the day, a lecture will be given by Rev. David Voprada on the topic of St. Ambrose and growth in the Christian life. Davenport — Congregation of the Humility of Mary is hosting its annual Holiday Gift Swap Dec. 3 from 6-8 p.m. at the Humility of Mary Center. Bring a new or gently used item. Leftover items will be donated to the Humility of Mary Housing and Shelter programs.
Davenport — Eagles’ Wings is hosting a mini-retreat day to celebrate the beginning of the Year of Mercy and the Im­maculate Con­cep­tion Dec. 8. The day begins at 9:30 a.m. with adoration continuing throughout the morning until Mass begins at 1 p.m. Quiet prayer and meditations from “The Diary of St. Faustina” as well as Scripture will be shared in the tradition of Collatio, a community form of lectio divina. Iowa City — St. Patrick Parish’s Respect Life Ministry will host a Gifts for Baby Jesus — St. Nicholas Party Dec. 5 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the social hall. Bring a new baby gift for donation to Informed Choices Clinic. DeWitt — St. Joseph Parish is hosting its annual Cookie Walk Dec. 5 from 9-11:30 a.m. in Harness Hall. A variety of Christmas cookies with containers will be available for $5 per pound. Recycled Christmas decor will also be for sale.
