Good Friday collection
Through the Good Friday collection, we join with Catholics around the world to stand in solidarity with the church in the Holy Land. When we contribute to the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, we become an instrument of peace in a troubled land.
The political, religious and military challenges in the Holy Land are more complex than ever. The wars, unrest and instability have been especially hard on Christians. Our support means that our church will conduct parish ministry, provide Catholic education, feed the hungry, build housing for Christians, maintain shrines and operate refugee centers in the Holy Land.
We can help keep alive the holy sites and the work of the Franciscan missionaries who have served the people in the Holy Land since the 13th century. All the work done by the Franciscan Friars for the pilgrims, the native Christians and the poor of every faith depends in great part on our charitable assistance.
“We cannot remain indifferent: God is not indifferent! God cares about mankind. God does not abandon us,” Pope Francis says. This care is expressed by our open hands, contributing generously. It can also be shown by making pilgrimages without fear to the places of our salvation, visiting also the schools and centers of assistance, where one can draw near to the local Christians and listen to their stories.

La colecta del Viernes Santo
A través de la colecta del Viernes Santo, nos unimos a los católicos de todo el mundo para ser solidarios con la Iglesia en Tierra Santa. Cuando contribuimos a la Colecta Pontificia del Viernes Santo, nos convertimos en un instrumento de paz en una tierra con problemas.
Los desafíos políticos, religiosos y militares en Tierra Santa son más complejos que nunca. Las guerras, disturbios y la inestabilidad han sido especialmente duros para los cristianos. Nuestro apoyo significa que nuestra Iglesia llevará a cabo el ministerio parroquial, proporcionando una educación católica, alimentando a los hambrientos, la construcción de viviendas para los cristianos, manteniendo capillas y operando los centros de refugiados en Tierra Santa.
Podemos ayudar a mantener vivos los lugares sagrados y la labor de los misioneros franciscanos que han servido a la gente en Tierra Santa desde el siglo XIII. Todo el trabajo realizado por los Hermanos Franciscanos para los peregrinos, los cristianos nativos y los pobres de todos los credos depende en gran parte de nuestra ayuda caritativa.
“¡No podemos permanecer indiferentes: Dios no es indiferente! Dios se preocupa por la humanidad. Dios no nos abandona “, dice el Papa Francisco. Esta atención se expresa en nuestras manos abiertas, contribuyendo generosamente. También lo podemos demostrar haciendo peregrinaciones sin temor a los lugares de nuestra salvación, visitando también las escuelas y centros de asistencia, donde uno puede acercarse a los cristianos locales y escuchar sus historias.
