Clinton — Franciscan Peace Center’s ongoing Film Festival continues Aug. 19 with “Life in a day.” The film focuses Life in a Day is a user-generated, feature-length documentary shot on a single day—July 24, 2010, using more than 80,000 videos submitted to YouTube. The event starts at 6:30 p.m.; no cost to attend.

LITURGY/PRAYER
Davenport — A healing Mass will be held Aug. 11 at St. Alphonsus Parish. Confessions at 6 p.m., praise and worship music at 6:30 p.m., Mass at 7 p.m. After Mass, stay and have the opportunity to be prayed over by one of the prayer ministry teams for physical, emotional or spiritual healing or for a greater release of the Holy Spirit in your life.
Davenport — Sacred Heart Cathedral has added a 7:15 a.m. Mass each Sunday.
Davenport — Father Ed O’Melia celebrates Mass every Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. in the Genesis West Hospital chapel.
Fort Madison — The 175th celebration of Catholicism in Fort Madison will be held July 31. Mass beings at 3 p.m. at Ss. Mary & Joseph Parish.
Keokuk — Cele­brate Holy Hour at All Saints Parish July 28 at 7 p.m

MEETINGS
Bettendorf — Widows and Widowers from St. John Vianney Parish in Bettendorf meet the third Wednesday of each month at noon in the dining room at Bettendorf Hy-Vee, 2900 Devils Glen Road. Purchase what you want for lunch. This is a time of hospitality. The group hopes you will join them. Bring a friend.
Iowa City — Understanding Your Grief is a professionally led ongoing support group for people whose spouse or significant other has died in the last three years. Muscatine — Ss. Mary & Mathias Parish will host an upcoming parish mission for the Jubilee Year of Mercy. The parish will host Father Greg Bramlage and the Missionaries of the New Evangelization in September. Anyone from throughout the diocese is invited to “experience the healing mercy of Christ during our mission here.” Fr. Bramlage will celebrate weekend Masses on Sept. 10 and 11. Then the mission will be held Sept. 12, 13 and 14 beginning at 6 p.m. at the parish, 215 W. 8th St., Muscatine. There will be childcare available during the mission. For more information on Fr. Wheatland — Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat will host Works of Mercy in Action, Aug. 7 from 2-5 p.m. Come for a day of sharing about programs and projects that have offered support to those in need of mercy -— homeless, incarcerated, flood victims, etc. Learn about the many volunteer opportunities that await your mercy. Davenport — Quad Cities Theology on Tap meets every 2nd Thursday of the month at Jersey Grille at 7 p.m. Theology on Tap is a monthly gathering for young adults in the Quad-Cities area to meet, connect and learn about theology.
Goose Lake — Assumption & St. Patrick Parish in Charlotte is hosting a beef & pork dinner on Aug. 14 from 3-7 p.m. The event will be held at the Millennium Ballroom in Goose Lake. Carry-outs are available. Cost is $10 for adults, $5.50 for children 4-12 years and free for ages 4 and under. Tickets available at the door the day of the event. There will also be a gift basket silent auction, children’s games, bingo and a country store.
Rock Island, Ill. — A Praying Icon Workshop on the Mystery of the Visitation Icon will be held Aug. 7-12 in Farrell Hall at St. Pius X Parish. The event begins Aug. 7 at 1 p.m. and concludes Aug. 12 at noon. Hours the other days are from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. No painting experience needed. Ages 13 and older can attend.
