Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
The recent storms in Louisiana have caused the worst flooding in the state since Hurricane Katrina. As many as 60,000 homes have been damaged, with nearly 20,000 people being rescued from the flood waters. Already more than 106,000 individuals and families have sought federal disaster aid. Our prayer and material support is urgently needed to help rebuild lives.
Catholic Charities USA desperately needs our help so that people and communities most in need can be helped. I am asking that all parishes add a special collection to benefit the victims of the Louisiana flooding on the weekend of Sept. 17-18. Checks are to be made payable to the local parishes with “Flood Relief” on the memo line.
Join the church in being a visible witness to the healing presence of Jesus alive in the world. The collection funds will support the humanitarian efforts of Catholic Charities USA and will help provide support to Catholic dioceses also impacted.
