Diocese of Davenport releases new prayer

Facebooktwittermail

Bishop Martin Amos turned 75 on Dec. 8 and submitted his letter of resignation to the Holy Father. The Diocese of Davenport has introduced a prayer to be prayed while we wait for the naming of Bishop Amos’ successor. The prayer is available in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese on the liturgy homepage: http://www.davenportdiocese.org/liturgy.

Prayer to be used as we await a new bishop:

O God, eternal shepherd,
who govern your flock with unfailing care,
in your mercy grant your Church in Davenport
a pastor who will please you by his holiness
and will show us your watchful care.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
