Sr. Gannon marks 70 years as sister

Sister Laurus Gannon, RSM, is celebrating her 70th year as a member of the Sisters of Mercy West Midwest Com­munity. She celebrated her jubilee in Chicago with sisters and Mercy Associates on April 30.

Sr. Gannon was born in Brooklyn, Iowa, and graduated from Brooklyn Public School before entering the Sisters of Mercy in Chicago. Most recently she served at Mercy Hospital in Davenport from 1978-1999 in pastoral care and was the director of pastoral care from 1980-94. She was also a teacher at St. Patrick in Burlington (1953-55, 1961-63 and 1967-68) and St. Mary in West Burlington (1966-67).
