A Night to Shine for people with special needs

Our Lady of the River Parish in LeClaire and Risen Christ Lutheran Church in Davenport are co-hosting Night to Shine, an unforgettable prom experience centered on God’s love for people with special needs ages 14 and older. The free event is sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation.

Night to Shine will be held Friday, Feb. 8, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the TaxSlayer Center in Moline, Ill. (Check-in begins at 5:30 p.m.). Guests and volunteers participate at no charge but must register in advance. An estimated 700 churches around the world will host Night to Shine simultaneously.

Every guest of Night to Shine enters this complimentary event on a red carpet complete with a warm welcome from a friendly crowd and paparazzi. Once inside, guests receive the royal treatment, including hair and makeup stations, shoe shining areas, limousine rides, corsages and boutonnieres, a catered dinner, karaoke, prom favors for each honored guest, a Respite Room for parents and caretakers and, of course, a dance floor… all leading up to the moment when each guest is crowned king or queen of the prom.

“Night to Shine is an incredible night. Lights … music … limos … dancing … and best of all, each honored guest being crowned a king or queen of the prom!” said Erik Dellenback, executive director of the Tim Tebow Foundation.
