BDS movement is not anti-Semitic

To the Editor:

In a March 4 letter to The Catholic Messenger, Matt Muckler wrote: “The BDS movement is anti-Semitic because it seeks to injure the Jewish people as a whole.”  Fortunately, the opposite is true. The BDS movement was founded by Jewish Voice for Peace led by Rabbi Alissa Wise.

They advocate a boycott of goods made by Jewish settlers who have illegally occupied Palestinian land. They believe that as long as Jewish settlers continue to take Palestinian land there will be no peace. They oppose Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s hard-line policies. I do not think these 200,000 American Jews are anti-Semitic.
