Don’t forget martyred Christians

Facebooktwittermail

To the Editor:

I am new to this area, moving here from Michigan last October, and I am a member of St. John Vianney Parish, Bettendorf.

I read with interest the subject headline article: “Faiths unite to mourn shooting victims” (March 21). I believe it is of great importance to pray for victims everywhere, especially with people of other faiths. I am also remembering and thinking of the countless number of Christians persecuted and martyred throughout the world, in places like Iraq, Syria, Iran, Egypt, the Philippines and the African nations, especially Nigeria, where thousands of people have recently died.

These happenings are so common that they are rarely, if ever mentioned on the nightly news. It has become politically incorrect to even talk about or report on these persecutions because it does not support the mainstream media’s agenda.

I sincerely hope and pray that one day I may also see an article on your front page about faiths uniting, especially those of the Islamic Center, to pray for the tens of thousands seemingly forgotten Christian martyrs of the world.
