Online — Catholic sisters from six midwest congregations, including the Clinton Franciscans, have created a calendar for Earth Month in April. “Flowing Forward: A Water-Wise Earth Month Calendar,” is intended to raise awareness about water conservation and sustainability efforts. Ottumwa — St. Patrick Parish is hosting a liturgical sewing workshop from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the church hall. Learn the basics of sewing linens, vestments and more. Bettendorf — St. John Vianney Parish is hosting “Social Justice Thursday” from 6:30-8 p.m. Micah Kiel, theology professor at St. Ambrose University, will talk about the social teachings of St. John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI.

Davenport — A retreat, “Hope in Action: Spirituality in the 21st Century” will take place at Humility of Mary Center Friday from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Learn from speakers and leaders who are committed to creating a hopeful and regenerative future. Fee is $50 per person ($10 for students) and includes Saturday lunch. Register at 563-374-1092. This event is sponsored by Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat and Prairiewoods.

Iowa City — The Iowa chapter of the Society of Catholic Scientists is hosting a talk by Father Joseph Sia at Newman Catholic Student Center at 7 p.m. Father graduated with a medical degree in his native Philippines and studied genetics at the University of Iowa before heeding the call to enter the priesthood. He will discuss how, through medicine and science, he came to a richer appreciation of his faith in God. Indianapolis — The 10th National Eucharistic Congress will take place June 17-21, 2024 as part of the three-year National Catholic Revival. The Diocese of Davenport received 250 discounted tickets at $200 each; these will be available on a first come, first served basis — limit 2 per person — and are available now. Learn the Couple to Couple League method of Natural Family Planning (NFP), which gives couples the knowledge to track fertility signs as a way to achieve or avoid pregnancy. NFP is the only method of family planning approved by the Catholic Church and modern, symptom-based methods demonstrate an accuracy of about 99% in identifying times of fertility and infertility, according to the European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology. Catholic sisters from six midwest congregations, including the Clinton Franciscans, have created a calendar for Earth Month in April. “Flowing Forward: A Water-Wise Earth Month Calendar,” is intended to raise awareness about water conservation and sustainability efforts.
