Retirement of KCs Fourth Degree regalia

To the Editor:

It was a nice article on the new exemplification ceremonies of the Knights of Columbus in the Feb. 6 edition of The Catholic Messenger. I hope that it will assist in recruiting new members.

It is disappointing that The Catholic Messenger didn’t cover the retirement of the Fourth Degree regalia (cape and chapeau) of the Knights of Columbus on June 30, 2019.

I would have thought that retirement of the regalia after 79 years would have been newsworthy since the Knights of Columbus regalia identified the Knights of Columbus. It also would have been a simple way of informing the parishioners of the Diocese of Davenport that they won’t be seeing the Honor Guard in regalia anymore! It will now be in “the new uniform.”
