Events to help women find peace

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Join in dialogue with other faith-filled women at the Benet Retreat Center, St. Mary Monastery in Rock Island, Ill., on Oct. 5 and 12. Held in the spirit of Thomas Merton’s idea that “Dialogue is communication that becomes communion,” women of diverse faith traditions will share ways in which all can work and live together in respect, peace and love in this two-part panel.

Part 1, Monday, Oct. 5, 7-8:30 p.m.: Finding and Maintaining Inner Peace Among Family and Friends, with Sophia Farooqui, Indian Muslim and Davenport para-educator; and Elizabeth Swanson, Cistercian associate and spiritual director in the Quad-City area.

Part 2, Monday, Oct.12, 7–8:30 pm: Peace Making in the Community and Beyond, with Lisa Zaynab Killinger, DC, outreach coordinator for the Muslim Community of the Quad City; and Barbara Roedel, pastoral associate at St. Pius Parish, Rock Island, Ill.
