Prince of Peace welcomes new teachers

Prince of Peace Academy welcomes three new teachers for the 2009-2010 school year.

Katie Shaw is the new kindergarten teacher. Shaw is in her first year of teaching, after graduating in May 2009 from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She is very familiar with Catholic education as she attended Catholic schools from preschool through high school in Kansas City.

Betty Mantsch is the new academic support teacher for K-5 students. Mantsch has just begun her first year of teaching at Prince of Peace Academy, but has 12 years of previous teaching experience in the Clinton Catholic school system at North Catholic Grade School and Mater Dei High School.  Mantsch also has served as director of religious education for Prince of Peace Parish. She has a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s in theology. Her current duties will include teaming with teachers to provide educational support and enrichment for K-5 students.

Richard Bell is the new second-grade teacher. Bell joins Prince of Peace after teaching fifth grade for three years at St. Andrew Catholic School in Rock Falls, Ill. He received a Catholic education at North Catholic Grade School in Clinton. He received his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from The Franciscan University in Clinton.
