Dorothy D. Bettcher, 84, a resident of Davenport died peacefully, Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at Genesis Medical Center West Central Park, Davenport, following a brief illness.

Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 4105 N. Division Street, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday at the Halligan – McCabe – DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St., downtown Davenport. The family invites you to join them at 1 p.m. for a prayer service to begin the visitation. Following the prayers they will greet friends until 4 p.m.

Dorothy Dean Hagen was born Feb. 3, 1926 in Hannibal, Missouri a daughter of John E. and Alberta M. (Murphy) Hagen. She was united in marriage to Robert J. Bettcher in 1956. He preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1989.

Dorothy retired from Red Jacket Pumps after 23 years of service. She had been the office insurance administrator.

She was a long time member of the church. She enjoyed being with her friends, playing cards, dining out and fishing. Although her most cherished moments were the time spent with her family, she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Memorial can be made to Our Lady of Victory.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Marge Metzger, Hoschton, Georgia; grandchildren, Brian Metzger, and Jennifer and Scott Asher, step-grandchildren, Jill and Mike Jones, and Gary Sievertsen; and great grandchildren, Nicholas, Benjamin and Julia Asher; Ayslinn and Delaney Metzger, and Alex Jones.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a brother, John E. Hagen.
