Sister Rita Anne Lenaghan, 84, died Jan. 20 at Bishop Drumm Retirement Center, Johnston. 

Rose Anna Lenaghan (Sister Mary Rita Anne) was born Jan. 4, 1927, in Webster, Iowa. On Sept. 8, 1945, she entered the Congregation of the Humility of Mary in Ottumwa, where she professed vows on July 28, 1948.

She received a B.A. in education from Marycrest College, Davenport, and CPE Certification from St. Francis Hospital, La Crosse, Wis. For more than 30 years she taught in Iowa elementary schools, including St. Mary, Ottumwa; St. Mary, Albia; and Our Lady of Lourdes, Bettendorf.  Sr. Lenaghan served for more than 20 years as pastoral associate at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Bettendorf before retiring at Humility of Mary Center, Davenport, in 2004.

Her funeral was to be held Jan. 26 in Bettendorf.  Burial was to be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Davenport.
