Class 2B students helped Gary Metivier promote his book, “Saluting Grandpa.” Catch them on KWQC commercials for the book and Honor Flight information.

Gary Metivier, author of the storybook “Saluting Grandpa,” came into Mary Wilson’s second-grade classroom to make a commercial for his book.

Students worked with producer and cameraman David Sands and a special visitor, Bob Morrison, chairman of Honor Flight of the Quad Cities. The flight brings veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit memorials honoring their service.

Saluting Grandpa is raising money for Honor Flight of the Quad Cities. Four children had speaking parts in the commercial and we were excited to see it air on KWQC-TV.

Metivier came back to visit the class, gave students an autographed book and thanked them for making the commercial. He will be back to talk about the writing of his book and answer questions about writing and publishing a book.
