To the Editor:
Dear Father Close,
Your article, “Reflecting on becoming a priest” in the July 19 edition of The Catholic Messenger was both profound and edifying. It was generous of you to share the intimate details of those emotions that you experienced as you participated in the rite of ordination, as well as the awesome fact that you are now a priest forever. I don’t doubt that you will keep the wonderment of your special day with you always.
Your joy, your humility, your sense of awe and your realization that you were chosen and answered the call were clearly evidenced in your “from-the-heart” article.
You are a great addition to the Diocese of Davenport. You will be in good company as you join the ranks of our good and dedicated priests who so selflessly and joyfully serve throughout the area.
Thank you for sharing your reflections as you looked back on becoming a priest.  It was an inspiring read. I like happy endings, and happy beginnings, and your article incorporated both!
Congratulations and best wishes.
Most sincerely,
Polly Bukta
Clinton
