New trustees named at St. Ambrose

DAVENPORT — St. Ambrose University has announced the appointment of two new members to its Board of Trustees.

“We are delighted to add Philip Doherty and Angela Lawrence, two distinguished and accomplished individuals, to the St. Ambrose Board of Trustees,” said Sister Joan Lescinski, CSJ, president of St. Ambrose.

Doherty

Philip Doherty earned his bachelor in accounting degree from St. Ambrose in 1978. Until his retirement Doherty served as general manager and chief financial officer of Chicago Tribune Media Group.

He joined the Chicago-based Tribune in 1985 as manager of financial reporting, having worked as an audit manager at Arthur Andersen accounting firm. Doherty is a certified public accountant and a member of the International Newspaper Financial Executives and the Illinois CPA Society.

Doherty serves on the board of the Chicago Youth Centers. Doherty and his wife, Cindy, a 1978 St. Ambrose graduate, reside in Elmhurst, Ill.

Lawrence

Angela Lawrence earned her master of business administration degree from St. Ambrose University. She currently serves as an associate vice president for regional sales for Nationwide Insurance’s Southeast Region. Prior to joining Nationwide, Lawrence worked for Bituminous Insurance Company, Georgia Casualty and Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company. Lawrence earned the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter insurance professional designation. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Jackson State University, Jackson, Miss.

Lawrence is a board member of the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta. She and her husband, Patrick, reside in Atlanta, Ga.
