Worldwide Marriage Encounter has been offering weekend enrichments for more than 40 years and has a presence in nearly 100 countries making it the largest faith-based marriage enrichment movement in the world. Worldwide Marriage Encounter is for any couple that desires a richer, fuller life together. On the weekend couples are able to concentrate exclusively on one another free of the everyday distractions and interruptions. Couples learn a communication technique they can use the rest of their lives to deepen and enrich their love for each other. Consider planning a special weekend away just the two of you to renew your marriage relationship.
Worldwide Marriage Encounter is also for priests and religious who want to revitalize their relationship with the people of God. The weekends are designed in such a way that both priests and religious are able to fully participate. The principles of love, commitment and effective communication translate to the relationships they have with everyone they have dedicated their life to serving.
Weekends are held at either retreat centers or hotels. Advance registration is recommended. Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekends will be held March 20-22 in Ankeny, Iowa; May 1-3 in Iowa City; Sept. 18-20 in Ankeny; Oct. 23-25 in Cedar Falls, Iowa; and Feb. 12-14, 2016, in Ankeny. 1. Our son and his wife are really having major issue keeping their marriage together. They have done lots of counseling and I am wondering if this weekend is for troubled marriages?
    Thanks for your response! Peg

    • WWME is not really meant for troubled marriages. I would encourage the couple to instead attend a Retrouvaille weekend if possible. There are not any currently being held in Iowa, but both Illinois and Minnesota have programs. A listing of dates and locations are available on their website. This program is not a “miracle cure” for marriages, but over 85% of the couples attending have been able to successfully work through their difficulties and stay married.
