Sharing the faith with those in Latin America

Facebooktwittermail

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Bishop Amos

This year’s theme for the Collection for the Church in Latin America is Share Your Faith.
Embracing this national collection gives us an opportunity to help spread the good news of the Church throughout the Americas. For example, our ongoing support helps Catholics in Cuba benefit from family ministry programs which promote the rosary and prepare people for the National Day of Families. In turn, Catholics are better prepared to handle pressures that might otherwise pose threats to their families.
These and other needs have been identified by the local faithful, and we through our generous financial support join in achieving something greater. By working together, we maintain and strengthen the bonds of communion with the Holy Father and the universal church so that our common witness of solidarity and sharing radiates the abundance of God’s saving love who desires that all come to know the glory of God.
Time and again, even during difficult economic times, the people of the Diocese of Davenport have been supportive of the church’s works through financial contributions, in service and with prayer. As we give thoughtful consideration to this collection request, let us also increase our trust in God’s providence that we will be able to meet the needs in our diocese that present themselves while meeting ongoing needs of the universal church.
This is a wonderful opportunity to Share Your Faith with your generous support of the Collection for the Church in Latin America on May 2-3.

Sincerely in Christ,
Sinceramente en Cristo,

Most Rev. Martin Amos
