Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
This year’s theme for the Collection for the Church in Latin America and the Caribbean is Share Your Faith.
Embracing this national collection gives us an opportunity to help spread the good news of the church throughout the Americas. For example, the Diocese of Garzon, Colombia, is blessed with a large community but there are few priests to address its many needs. Through a grant from the Collection for the Church in Latin America, the parish was able to train pastoral and evangelization leaders for their parish community.
These and other needs have been identified by the local faithful, and we, through our generous financial support, join in achieving something greater. By working together, we maintain and strengthen the bonds of communion with the Holy Father and the universal church so that our common witness of solidarity and sharing radiates the abundance of God’s saving love who desires that all come to know the glory of God.
Time and again, even during difficult economic times, the people of the Diocese of Davenport have been supportive of the church’s works through financial contributions, in service and with prayer. As we give thoughtful consideration to this collection request, let us also increase our trust in God’s providence that we will be able to meet the needs in our diocese that present themselves while meeting ongoing needs of the universal church.
As we celebrate the important milestone of 50 years of solidarity with the Church in Latin America and the Caribbean, please take this opportunity to Share Your Faith with your generous support on April 30-May 1.
Ayudando a la Iglesia en Latinoamérica
Queridos Hermanos y Hermanas en Cristo,
El lema de este año para la Colecta por la Iglesia en Latinoamérica y el Caribe es Compartir Tu Fe.
Siendo parte de esta colecta nacional, se nos da la oportunidad de ayudar a extender la buena nueva de la Iglesia, a través de toda América. Por ejemplo, la Diócesis de Garzón, Colombia, es bendecida con una comunidad muy grande, pero hay pocos sacerdotes que puedan dirigir sus muchas necesidades. A través de una donación desde la Colecta para la Iglesia en Latinoamérica, las parroquias pueden entrenar y evangelizar líderes para las comunidades parroquiales.
Estas y otras necesidades han sido logradas por los fieles locales y por nosotros, a través de nuestro generoso apoyo económico, y alcanzaremos cosas más grandes. Trabajando juntos, nos mantenemos y fortalecemos los lazos de comunión con el Santo Padre y la Iglesia Universal, para que nuestro testimonio común de solidaridad y de compartir, irradie la abundancia del amor salvífico de Dios, quien desea que todos lleguemos a conocer la gloria de Dios.
Una y otra vez, incluso en tiempos económicos difíciles, las personas de la Diócesis de Davenport, han apoyado las obras de la Iglesia a través de contribuciones económicas, en servicio y con la oración. Considere cuidadosamente apoyar esta colecta, a la vez también, dejemos que aumente nuestra confianza en la providencia de Dios, pues, nosotros seremos capaces de satisfacer las necesidades que nuestra diócesis presenta, mientras cumplimos con las necesidades actuales de la Iglesia Universal.
