SINSINAWA, Wis.—Sister Frances Therese Murray, OP, (Sister Mary Daniel) died July 9 at St. Dominic Villa.
Sr. Murray was born June 5, 1914, in Chicago, the daughter of Daniel and Lucy (Roche) Murray. Sr. Murray made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican on March 9, 1941, and her final profession Aug. 7, 1944. She ministered in education for 45 years, as a hospital chaplain for eight years, and in various roles for the Sinsinawa Dominican congregation for 11 years.
In the Diocese of Davenport Sr. Murray served as a hospital chaplain at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City from 1987-1991. She also served elsewhere in Iowa, Illinois, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Wyoming and Minnesota.
The funeral Mass was held in the Gathering Place chapel at Sinsinawa on July 13 with burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
