OMAHA — School Sister of St. Francis Madeline Mary Greiner died March 28 at the age of 94.

Sr. Greiner

Sr. Greiner was born Nov. 25, 1922, in Harper. She entered the School Sisters of St. Francis in 1940 and took her first vows in 1942. She received her religious name, Odilia, which was changed back to Madeline in 1968.

Sr. Greiner served in many schools over the years. In addition to teaching, she served on the parish council, was an area coordinator for her community, a cooperating teacher for the training of new teachers and an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist. After her retirement from teaching in 1993, she kept busy substitute teaching, tutoring and visiting the sick.

Sr. Greiner loved teaching and being a School Sister of St. Francis. She is remembered for her love of her community, her closeness to her family, her love and care for the children she taught, and the love, care and support she provided to the sick and poor throughout her life of ministry.
