Sr. Koehler served in Davenport

DUBUQUE – Former educator Sister Rose André Koehler, BVM, 92, died May 8 at Marian Hall in Dubuque.

She was born in Boone, Iowa, on Oct. 13, 1925, to Andrew and Christina Gossman Koehler. She entered the BVM congregation Sept. 8, 1943, from Sacred Heart Parish, Boone. She professed first vows on March 19, 1946, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1951.

In the Diocese of Davenport, Sr. Koehler was principal at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School in Davenport. She also taught elementary/junior high school and/or was principal in Chicago; Butte, Mont.; Lincoln, Neb.; Dubuque and Des Moines, Iowa; Stockton, Calif.; and Montgomery, Ala., where she was teacher aide/tutor at a literacy center.

Burial is in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Dubuque.
