SAU commencement this Saturday

DAVENPORT — The 2018 Winter Commence-ment exercises for St. Ambrose University will begin at 11 a.m. Dec. 15 at the RiverCenter in downtown Davenport.

Kirk Kelley, who has assisted the university in numerous capacities during 28 years at St. Ambrose University, will be the commencement speaker. Kelley has served multiple terms as a member of the Board of Studies, chairing it three times. He has also served on and chaired the Educational Policies Committee and the Promotion, Tenure and Standards Committee. He chaired the biology department from 1999-2002 and founded, developed and currently runs the human anatomical specimen program at SAU.

Kelley earned a Bachelor of Science in biology education from Kansas State University in 1981, taught high school science for a few years and then earned a Doctor of Philosophy in anatomy from the University of Kansas Medical Center in 1991.

In 2003, Kelley earned a Bachelor of Arts in French at St. Ambrose, evidence of his lifelong passion for learning. He also has sung alongside students in the SAU Chorale and, for 17 years, has been a faculty leader of The Bridge Bible Fellowship on campus.

On Dec. 14, graduate candidates from the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business and College of Health and Human Services will participate in the graduate hooding ceremony at 5 p.m. in Galvin Fine Arts Center. A reception will follow in Cosgrove Dining Hall. At 8 p.m., the nursing graduate pinning ceremony will be held in Galvin Fine Arts Center.
