Sister Mary Ann Aman, CHM, died Sept. 7 at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston, Iowa. She was 82.

Sister Aman was born July 30, 1939, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Fred and Christine (Koncher) Aman. She entered the Congregation of the Humility of Mary in 1957 and professed vows in 1960.

She earned an AS in elementary education from Ottumwa Heights College in 1960 and completed a BA in the same field at Marycrest College in Davenport in 1972. While teaching and doing parish ministry in Texas, she earned a certificate in Professional Ministries: Deacon.

Sister Aman’s ministry of education spanned six decades. In the Diocese of Davenport she served in Ottumwa, Centerville, Davenport, Bettendorf and Albia. Additionally, she served in religious education in the Diocese of Des Moines, the Archdiocese of Dubuque, and the Diocese of Tyler, Texas.

A rosary and livestreamed memorial service took place Sept. 12 at Humility of Mary Center in Davenport. A private service took place at Bishop Drumm Our Lady of Peace Chapel in Johnston, on Sept. 13, followed by burial at St. Patrick Cemetery in Perry, Iowa.

Memorials may be made to the Congregation of the Humility of Mary.
